Nancy Virden (c)2025
It’s been twenty-five years since many of us prepared for Y2K, greeted the new millennium, and naively assumed America would never change. The author of today’s blog was raising her children, as was I.
Depression had been moderate for about twelve years, and medication was still not in the picture. Untreated bipolar moods (not rapid) affected relationships and goals. The year 2000 was a wonderful, mystery-filled, naive, and wary one.
I am sure it was different for you.
In the following expressions of sadness, fear, and faith, you can observe and feel the author’s personal experience with the year 2000.

Lord, I kneel before your throne of grace
I extend my hands toward your embrace
I come humbly praying on bended knees
Knowing
Trusting
That you will hear my pleas
My days are filled with sadness
Sometimes I’m feeling blue
The world and all its riches can’t satisfy
So I surrender all to you
Lord, in Jesus’ name I ask
That you won’t turn your back on me today
Speak to my heart and have your way
I want to listen and obey
I thank you for your mercy
Your kindness and your grace
Lord, make me a vessel of honor
Steadfast enough to endure this race
I cannot do it all alone
I need you to guide my way
I ask not by sight, but by faith
That you will walk with me today.
What was life like for you in 2000? What is your prayer today?

Today’s Helpful Word
Psalm 71:17-19
O God, you have taught me from my earliest childhood, and I constantly tell others about the wonderful things you do.
Now that I am old and gray, do not abandon me, O God.
Let me proclaim your power to this new generation, your mighty miracles to all who come after me. Your righteousness, O God, reaches to the highest heavens. You have done such wonderful things. Who can compare with you, O God?
