Have you ever felt alone in a crowd? In your house? At work or school?
When Moses asked, “What shall I call you?” God answered, “I AM”.
A friend posted the following profound quote by an unknown pastor. My friend found this on Instagram:
God is everywhere, and there is nowhere where there is a where, where God is not. In fact, the Greeks had what they called a chariotic expression in that God can be where he is on his way to where he’s going, but by the time he gets to where he’s going, he’s already arrived, and by the time he arrives, he’s still in the same place he was before he left going where he was going. And he bumps into himself while he’s in transition because there is nowhere where there is a where, where God is not.
And yet God can lower the voltage of his being and be somewhere.
Throughout the Holy Bible, we read of instances when God was very near and even spoke with human beings. In the Old Testament portion (The first 4000 years of the earth), God showed up in various ways but always as a person. He was never merely an ‘experience’ or feeling. He was real, alive, and present with us.
In the New Testament (the first 90 years or so after Jesus’ birth), God showed up in the person of His Son, Jesus. He was exactly represented by Jesus on earth. Jesus went so far as to say, “If you’ve seen me, you’ve seen the Father.”
Jesus went on to promise never to leave those who put their faith in him. Writers of the New Testament letters were inspired by the Holy Spirit to use the words they did. One wrote, “ Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.”
Everywhere, we read God’s promise to never forsake or abandon his children. We become God’s children when we place our faith in the salvation that Jesus offers.
So if God is everywhere, he sees you and understands why you make the choices you do. He calls out to you and wants you to surrender to him so he can lead you along the best pathway for your life.
As one with mental health challenges, I have felt alone plenty of times. Still, I knew God was with me and that I could ask him for the help that was so desperately needed. My job was to keep walking; his job was to provide the strength for that and to guide me. Sometimes he has led me to professionals, hospitals, and certain meds. At other times, he changed my outlook through reading the Bible or worshipping him. EACH time, he has proven to hear my prayers and to eventually lead me out of whatever pit I was in.
There’s a beautiful song whose lyrics hang on my wall:
I wasn’t made to be tending a grave; I was called by name
Born and raised back to life again, I was made for more.
God calls each of us with the option to choose his ways or not. By walking with him, he walks with us, and we are, literally, never alone.

Jeremiah 23:23-24
“Am I a God who is only close at hand?” says the Lord.
“No, I am far away at the same time.
Can anyone hide from me in a secret place?
Am I not everywhere in all the heavens and earth?”
says the Lord.
