My son introduced me to the Red Versus Blue Show about 20 years ago. It was a comedic action web series that depicted two armies fighting. That sounds like today except for the comedy part.
America is playing a red vs. blue showdown in real-time. Possible outcomes include riots and revolution; we have already seen split families and neighborhoods. Does it have to result in further animosity?
People in Cleveland remember when LeBron James left for Florida. Fans anguished as if he had betrayed us all. Do you remember when Joe Biden was supposed to run for a second Presidency? How many disappointments have we seen from those we thought held the solutions we wanted?
Pedestals and god-roles do not suit humans very well. Pedestals are notoriously slippery, and god-roles fall short on many levels. We must hope in someone permanent, who does not change like shifting shadows. Who is big enough to hold all of America’s citizens together? Who is a sufficient warrior to fight off our toughest enemies? Who is so wise as to answer all of our concerns?
He isn’t human. He is not god-like, he is God. Go ahead and put him on the pedestal he built for himself because our homemade platforms are unsteady. Do we need to place our hope in our human presidential candidates?
Then Daniel praised the God of heaven. He said, “Praise the name of God forever and ever, for he has all wisdom and power. He controls the course of world events; he removes kings and sets up other kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the scholars.
Daniel 2:19-21
From one man, (Jesus) created all the nations throughout the whole earth. He decided beforehand when they should rise and fall, and he determined their boundaries. “His purpose was for the nations to seek after God and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him—though he is not far from any one of us. For in him we live and move and exist.

The hope of the world, including for America, is to pray to God the Father in the name of Jesus Christ, his Son. Pray for the good of our country, for God’s will to be done, and the strength to be obedient in the face of political disappointments and victories.

1 Timothy 2:1-2
I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.
